The last European vs US women's golf contest held on European soil took place in Spain last year, while the upcoming tournament set for the Netherlands in 2026.

Following the latest men's golf championship victory, England Golf is calling on the government to support their proposal to stage the Solheim Cup on English soil for the first time.

This elite contest between the top female golfers from Europe and the United States has taken place on two occasions in Scotland and in Wales but never on English territory. A bid has been prepared to organize it at The Grove in Hertfordshire eight years from now.

But coordinators need thirty million pounds to finance this proposal and currently just ten million pounds has been secured. England Golf is pressing for Treasury support to guarantee the remaining amount.
