Diving into an Unique Steam Demo: Guiding a Poop with the Goal to Find the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and players have discovered numerous entertaining independent titles. Yet, one stands out for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this old-school styled platformer includes a hero that is actually a dung trying to navigate to a restroom. In case you're wondering, "Unko" means "poop."

The gameplay is straightforward: you only need a jump control. In numerous levels, encounter mini-bosses and unlock a store to purchase skins for your poop character.

Time your movements carefully, since one wrong move requires starting over. Bounce off bubbles to propel the poop to new heights, traverse fragile ledges, and touch switches to unlock secret routes. Earn UN-KOINS and use them on tougher game content as things intensifies.

In terms of design, the game shows off neon level designs and catchy music score. The simple visual style of morphing basic polygons evokes memories of players of old favorites like Earthbound.

Although difficult to name previous releases where you control a coiled turd, interactive entertainment have long featured toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, you can make explosives from protagonist excrement. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ dung as plant food. Naturally, fecal references appears extensively in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its goofy premise, Unko Technica has already received significant awards, such as being named best at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. The demo is accessible now on Steam, with the complete version set to debut on computers this November.
