Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces
A comeback the Russian player claimed his maiden title for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, winning just one match at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.
The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.
Now training with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This marks the player's maiden trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hard court since that period of that year.
Victory also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.
His retrieving play style and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.
Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced service.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
The competitors swapped service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a decider.
Moutet rescued 4 early-game chances in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Suitably, he earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
